(re)connecting.earth, exhibition view andata.ritorno, Geneva – Julien Gremaud

Created by sixteen international artists, known for their commitment to ecological issues, those tools for a reconnection with urban nature are installed as posters in the city, in art spaces and in urban gardens across Europe. In Geneva (re)connecting.earth invests three unique places: the open-air exhibition space of Wilsdorf in the center of Geneva (from June 10 to September 23), the urban gardens of Les Vergers in Meyrin (from August 8 to October 11) and the art space andata.ritorno (from July 10 to 25).

With very elaborate graphics, or using works or performances by the artists themselves, the instructions lead either to a performative act, to the creation of a material object, or offer another look at the city and its biodiversity. Some of them seem to have been simply created to challenge or even amuse the passing-by spectators, others, more concrete, to be physically realized. Actions that are sometimes immaterial and sometimes very photogenic offer the public the opportunity to participate directly by putting themselves on stage. The public is invited to spread these instructions or even to stage themselves by doing them. The resulting images can be shared with the artists and the rest of the public on the website and on social networks using the hashtag #reconnecting.earth.

The instructions are also thematic starting points for workshops, art performances and urban walks with artists and scientists.
