From the shores of Busan to the pages of Art-Werk magazine
What will remain after one of Asia's largest open-air exhibitions comes to an end? And what lies hidden beneath the surface?

Our latest article, ‘The Visible and the Hidden,’ takes you behind the scenes of the Sea Art Festival 2025 and explores how seaside art reveals the fragile interconnections between humans and the marine world.

💭 Discover the encounters, dialogues and artistic gestures that emerged along the coast of Busan, where the visible meets the invisible.

What does it mean to follow an artist’s instruction as a way of experiencing the natural world differently?

For the third time in its young history, Art-werk x (re)Connecting.earth has presented a series of artist instructions outside of Switzerland — this time beyond the Biennale and the educational program.

Fourteen artists offered reflections and suggested actions to visitors of the Sea Art Festival @busanbiennale inviting them to engage with the world around them in new ways. You can now discover these works in a completely different context — and for the first time, in Korean (on view until November 2).

Warm thanks to @keumhwa_kim and @beyond_tropes for co-directing the Biennale and inviting us, to the Art-werk team for developing the accompanying texts, and to the Busan team for their support in production and translation. Supported by the Busan Biennale Organizing Committee, 2025

Looking for a fun and original summer activity for your children, nieces, nephews, or young neighbors?

This summer, art-werk invites children aged 6 to 12 to explore the biodiversity of Lake Geneva through free artistic workshops at the Bains des Pâquis.
Through drawing, listening games, and poetic explorations, these creative sessions offer a unique chance to reconnect with nature with curiosity and sensitivity.

Only 2.04% of EU seas are currently protected with management plans. That’s a small fraction—but it means we still have time to act.

With five years left to meet the EU’s 2030 goal of protecting at least 30% of marine areas—including 10% under strict protection—we’re not on track yet. But with collective effort, change is still possible.
As the UN Ocean Decade Conference unfolds in Barcelona, we highlight the work of @marie.griesmar , whose installations reflect the silent resilience of marine ecosystems. Exhibited in Geneva and Kiel with reconnecting.earth, her art reminds us that attention, care, and protection can restore what’s been damaged.
Marie is now continuing her research by another sea—more soon.

Raising awareness of nature through art - (re)connecting.earth on the move

In times of political upheaval, it is becoming increasingly important to create spaces for reflection, dialogue and transformation. The (re)connecting.earth biennial brings together artists, scientists and thinkers to explore new ways of living together with our planet through art.
Last year, the nomadic edition of the biennial took place in Kiel, the aftermovie of which can be seen on our YouTube channel, Link in bio.

So please enjoy a look back at our last edition, as we dedicate our full energy to preparing the next Biennial Geneva in two phases – starting at the end of this year (more soon).
