Exhibition of works by student artists from August 18 to September 15 2023, at the Bains des Pâquis.

The urban art and nature biennial (re)connecting.earth (02) - Beyond Water highlights a new generation of artists and showcases innovative proposals from up-and-coming young talent. In addition to the site-specific installations presented in public spaces and partner venues, a competition was organized for young artists studying at art schools in Switzerland.

These artists were invited to create "instruction works", encouraging practical or metaphorical interaction with natural elements and non-human beings, to renew and shift the focus on the environment. In this way, they create a unique and engaging artistic experience with the environment and urban nature.

Fifteen proposals were carefully selected by a jury of curators from leading Swiss art institutions, including Francesca Benini (curator at the Art Museum of Italian Switzerland), Roxane Bovet (independent curator and publisher Clinamen), Dehlia Hannah (CIC Berlin), Elisabeth Jobin (curator and art historian), Ursula Ströbele (Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte Munich), Mirjam Varadinis (curator at Kunsthaus Zürich) and Bernard Vienat (independent curator responsible for the artwerk association).

Their creations will be presented at the Bains des Pâquis and will join 13 other works by renowned Swiss and international artists exhibited during the biennial.

The emerging talent of art students from Swiss schools will leave the public inspired by their instructions, which will linger in people's minds long after the visit.

On September 1st 2023, during the opening of the Biennial, three of the most outstanding entries have been awarded prizes. The Jury Prize is attributed to the entries selected by the jury, Voyage sur l'eau by Lucie Morat and Trashsculpture by Ma Neveu. The Public Prize is given to the entry that received the most votes throughout the exhibition, Kiss your local insects by Brenda Dell'Anna.
