Kiel (re)connecting.earth: The Geneva Biennial (re)connecting.earth organized by art-werk and art4biodiversity gUG goes nomadic in Kiel, in two museums and in public space.

How is it possible to maintain a connection with other species in a technological, urban world full of visual and auditory stimuli? The «Beyond Water» edition is based on the (re)connecting.earth (02) biennial in Geneva and has developed into a nomadic version that is taking place in Kiel this year. It shows the works of 31 artists in the Stadtgalerie Kiel, the Zoologisches Museum Kiel and in public spaces.

test

At 21 stations along a circular route that connects the Stadtgalerie Kiel and the Kiel Zoologisches Museum, the exhibition reflects the richness of artistic production in relation to ecology. This path will be continued in both museums, where more than 100 works of art will be on display until November 24th, 2024. The Stadtgalerie Kiel serves as the central location of the project and shows existing and new works by 21 international artists such as Seba Calfuqueo, Zheng Bo and Som Supaparinya, while the Zoologisches Museum is a place of exchange between art and science, where the works of Andreas Greiner and Mark Dion enter into playful interaction with the collection.

Entrance of the Stadtgalerie Kiel

The nomadic edition of the Swiss biennal (re)connecting.earth stops in Kiel and Schleswig-Holstein and highlights the diversity of urban ecosystems and the richness of contemporary art production with various ecological focuses. It deals with the artistic potential of using scientific knowledge to draw attention to, imagine, listen to and visualize living forms. Through the works of the selected artists and the local initiatives, the western shore of the Kieler Förde as well as the parks between the Stadtgalerie and the Zoologisches Museum become places of creativity, reflection and participation.
