Die Biennale (re)connecting.earth (03) – Sensible Ressourcen kreuzt Kunst und Wissenschaft, um die kritischen Herausforderungen der natürlichen Ressourcen zu erforschen.
Seit 2021 versucht die Biennale (re)connecting.earth, eine Verbindung neu zu beleben und unsere Aufmerksamkeit für die Natur in der Stadt zu schärfen — durch die Intervention von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern. Diese dritte Ausgabe, mit dem Titel Sensitive Ressourcen, konzentriert sich auf natürliche Ressourcen: ihre Beschaffenheit, ihre Nutzung und das, was sie für unser tägliches Leben bedeuten.
Zwanzig Künstlerinnen und Künstler präsentieren mehr als fünfzig Werke — Installationen, Fotografien, Skulpturen, Anweisungswerke und Videos — die sich vom Bahnhof Eaux-Vives über die Comédie de Genève bis zur Villa du Parc entlang der Voie verte erstrecken.
Die Werke ermöglichen eine Annäherung an natürliche Ressourcen, von denen wir oft nur den Namen oder einen Bruchteil ihrer Verwendungen kennen. Sie laden uns ein, sie auf indirekte, mitunter poetische Weise zu visualisieren und die Auswirkungen ihrer Ausbeutung auf die Ökosysteme zu begreifen — während sie gleichzeitig eine Aufmerksamkeit für die unmittelbare Umgebung neu entfachen.
Durch die Übersetzung von Formen, die Zusammenstellung von Bildern oder die Inszenierung schlagen die Künstlerinnen und Künstler eine andere Lesart der Austauschprozesse und der Mechanismen der Extraktion, Transformation und des Konsums vor — sowie ihrer Auswirkungen.
Sie machen komplexe Prozesse wahrnehmbar, die oft weit von unserer direkten Erfahrung entfernt sind. Diese Arbeiten eröffnen auch Perspektiven auf die politischen und wirtschaftlichen Systeme, in die diese Ressourcen eingebettet sind, und auf die Beziehungen, die sie zu den Umwelten unterhalten, die sie verändern. Sind sie am Ende wirklich so sehr ein Segen?
Ob in der Comédie de Genève oder der Villa du Parc, auf den Bildschirmen der Bahnhöfe Eaux-Vives und Chêne-Bourg oder entlang der Voie verte in Chêne-Bougeries und Thônex — die Werke laden dazu ein, innezuhalten, zu beobachten und den Platz, den wir innerhalb dieser Ressourcenströme einnehmen, neu zu überdenken.
Um diese Erfahrungen und Reflexionen zu vertiefen, begleitet ein Programm aus Workshops, Vorträgen und Filmvorführungen die sechs Ausstellungswochen.

Opening of the (re)connecting.earth (03) Biennale
The third edition of the (re)connecting.earth Biennial, “Sensitive Resources,” opened with two highlight events that brought together artists, researchers, institutional partners, and the public.
At the Comédie de Genève, the inaugural symposium provided an opportunity to present the curatorial direction of this new edition and to introduce the major themes running through the project: the extraction of natural resources, the relationships between humans and their environments, and the ecological and economic transformations shaping territories. This first gathering concluded with a choral performance based on the work of Séverin Guelpa.
The opening reception then continued with a cross-border walk along the Greenway, from Geneva to Annemasse. Paced by presentations from the artists and speeches from institutional partners, and accompanied by music from Ta grand-mère quartet, the tour invited the public to discover the works in situ before concluding at the Villa du Parc with the opening of the exhibition Ressources Sensibles . This day marked the official launch of the Biennale and the start of an artistic route connecting Geneva and Annemasse, focusing on issues related to natural resources.
We were able to explore the artworks along the route, the Mich'Line—an exhibition organized in collaboration with the municipality of Thônex—and the Ressources Sensibles exhibition at the Villa du Parc.
The exhibition at the Villa will be on view through September 20, 2026.

Children's workshop
Throughout the biennial, elementary school classes came to tour the artworks on display at the Comédie.
Other workshops were held for children during a Mercredi Comédie and an Enfin Dimanche! These creative workshops invited children and families to create their own instruction artworks or explore the connections between nature and art.

Conférence, workshops and film screening
A program of events complemented the exhibitions and artworks on display along the Greenway.
Lectures, film screenings followed by discussions, and workshops for children, families, and adults provided opportunities to explore the themes of Ressources Sensibles in greater depth. These opportunities for connection and dialogue offered the public various ways to explore the challenges of natural resource extraction, the relationship between humans and their environments, and the ecological transformations shaping our era.
