Presented at the Comédie de Genève as part of the (re)connecting.earth Biennale (03), Dé-domestication offered a performance blending theater, drag, and visual arts to explore the connections between colonialism, domestication, and the destruction of ecosystems. Through images, bodies, and stage installations, the artists invited the audience to imagine alternative ways of inhabiting the world and of conceiving the relationships between humans, animals, and all living things.
The result of a collaboration between Daniel Hellmann and Rafa Bqueer, this production lies at the intersection of art and activism. By offering a queer vision of nature as a space for transformation and resistance, the performance expanded on the Biennale’s reflections on resources, forms of domination, and possible ecological futures.
