Vert le Futur – Alliance Sustainable Culture and art-werk are pleased to invite you to the first event in the new series “Taking Care of the Ecosystem,” organized in Geneva in collaboration with SIPI – Swiss Impact & Prosperity Initiative.
How can we evolve artistic, curatorial, and cultural practices while taking environmental and social issues into account? This first gathering offers an opportunity for exchange, reflection, and collective action around the connections between care, culture, and ecological transition.
Through workshops, roundtables, presentations, and co-creative processes, the event will bring together cultural actors, networks committed to sustainability, as well as representatives from public authorities, foundations, and funding partners. The goal: to share existing tools and practices, bring to light unmet needs and unresolved questions, and jointly identify concrete courses of action to strengthen cultural ecosystems.
The choice of October 29 is symbolic: this date marks the United Nations International Day of Care and Support, which highlights the essential role of care in the sustainability and resilience of our societies.
On October 29, Vert le Futur, art-werk, and the Swiss Impact & Prosperity Initiative (SIPI) will bring together two complementary events around a shared question: what does it mean to prosper, and what does it mean to care?
The date is particularly meaningful as it marks the United Nations International Day of Care and Support, which highlights the essential role of care in the sustainability and resilience of our societies and economies.
The morning will be dedicated to Rethinking Prosperity for 2040: Voices and Questions, an event organised by SIPI focusing on the development of shared narratives for regenerative prosperity as a basis for action towards systemic change.
Programme: 10:30–11:20 – Opening keynote & presentation of the Rethinking Prosperity for 2040 process | 12:20–14:00 – Narrative workshops & presentation of outcomes | 14:00–14:50 – Closing panel: Prosperity Narratives in Practice
From 1:00 pm, we will also come together for Taking Care of the Ecosystem #1 – Pathways to a Sustainable, Purposeful and Prosperous Cultural Sector, a participatory gathering initiated by Vert le Futur and conceived in collaboration with art-werk.
The afternoon will explore ways of caring for the people, resources, relationships, and structures that make up Geneva’s and Switzerland’s cultural ecosystems, while strengthening their collective responsibility and resilience.

The Taking Care of the Ecosystem event series was developed by Vert le Futur to activate the content of the Tatenbank , its free digital platform featuring a curated selection of tools, approaches, and inspiring practices related to ecological and social sustainability. It helps cultural practitioners turn their intentions into concrete actions.
Taking place across Switzerland’s four linguistic regions, these gatherings seek to deepen our understanding of the diverse ecosystems that shape the cultural sector, while caring for and strengthening the connections within and between them. They will create spaces for mutual learning, trust-building, and sustainable cooperation.
By bringing together different disciplines, perspectives, and networks, these gatherings will make existing knowledge and resources more visible and support participants in collectively identifying needs, challenges, and opportunities for action, both within each regional ecosystem and across the Swiss cultural sector as a whole.
The ambition is also to foster alliances beyond the cultural field and to highlight the essential role that art and culture can play in processes of social transformation.
This first event brings together three partners whose approaches are complementary:
